Priyamani, born Priya Vasudev Mani Iyer, is one of the better actresses in India right now. The Palakkad-born sizzler, who won the national award for the Best Actress for her performance in 'Paruthiveeran', is a very busy actress in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu.
Priyamani began in show business with modelling and debuted in films with 'Kangalal Kaidhu Sei'. But, it took her a few years to master the B.O., with some hits in Telugu like Jr NTR's 'Yamadonga'. 'Paruthiveeran' gave her the big break and she was careful to throw away the village belle image she had acquired by doing the Ameer Sultan film.
